Project summary
MIDAS’ team is speaking to many different global corporates in order to market Greater Manchester as a potential location to them.
In order to train the (often new and younger) staff of Midas with state of the art information on the global corporate agenda and with best practices in foreign direct investment we were asked over the years for different Inward Investment Trainings to the junior and more senior MIDAS’ team members.
Our approach
In the different trainings we did for Midas we offered different topics from more strategic sessions, best practices in account and project management and more interactive sessions which focused on attracting both new office and new manufacturing projects to the Greater Manchester region.
A typical structure of these trainings:
Morning – More strategic session – the corporate perspective
- Trends & developments at the corporate level
- The corporate right-shoring discussions, including re-shoring opportunities for Manchester
- How corporates are dealing with (increased) risk, framework of risk categories and how to assess them
- How corporates are dealing with tight labour markets in current and new locations, the availability, skills and costs, BCI’s IDEAL (In-DEpth Assessment of Labor markets)
- The corporate site selection process – a step by step approach focusing on cost, quality and risk factors at different levels of detail in the different phases of a project
Account and project management:
- The role of inward investment promotion agencies in the location selection process, step by step – what information a potential investor does need when and why?
Afternoon – More interactive sessions
- Office projects: including a case study and the positioning of greater Manchester resulting in a SWOT analysis build jointly with the MIDAS team
- Manufacturing projects : including global footprint discussions, a case study and the positioning of greater Manchester resulting in a SWOT analysis build jointly with the MIDAS team
- Joint conclusions, lessons learned and potential next steps
For all blocks we developed tailor-made presentations which were used as starting point for the interactive educational discussions
