ESPO Conference 2025
Organization | : ESPO |
Location | : Thessaloniki, Greece |
Date | : May 8-9, 2025 |
On 8 and 9 May, Europe’s sea ports will gather in Thessaloniki for the 21st edition of the ESPO Conference, the annual coming-together of the European port industry.
The theme for this year’s event is: ‘Towards a strategy for Europe’s ports in the post-2024 era’. As from the start of 2025, geopolitical tensions are further escalating and multilateralism is under pressure, shaking up the world order and paving the way for a new geopolitical and geo-economic normal. To navigate these shifts, the EU needs to prepare for its own future, secure its own position and foster new alliances. While the European Union continues to strive to become net-zero by the middle of this century, it is now also setting its compass towards a more competitive, secure and geoeconomically and geopolitically stronger Europe.
René Buck, CEO of BCI Global, will present on the afternoon of the first day May 8th an interesting and up-to-date presentation: ‘How are cargo owners reacting to the changing world?’. In case you would like to discuss this topic further with René or set up a personal meeting at the ESPO please do not hesitate to reach out to René directly. Also Eric Mekenkamp, Principal Consultant at BCI, will be in Thessaloniki.
Other speakers include amongst others: Athanasios Liagkos, Executive Chairman of the Board of the Port of Thessaloniki (S.A) and Chairman of the Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME), Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO of Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Richard Ballantyne, Chief Executive, British Ports Association. Martina Niemann, Chief Financial Offiver and Member of the Board of DB Cargo AG and Mark Dijk of the Port of Rotterdam Authority to name a few.
